The Decorated Cake Auction will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday of the Fair in the Exhibition Hall.

Participant Requirements:

• Participants must be aged 5 to 19 as of the current year.
• Participants do not need to be a member of an Oconto County 4-H, Scouts, FFA or other youth organization but must reside in Oconto County.  You need to Pre-Register by August 22, 2026

Cake Requirements:

• Cakes may not have a base larger than 10 inches and cannot have more than two tiers.
• Entries must be brought to the Fair in a non-returnable cake box with a lid. The cake box cannot have a base size larger than 12x12 inches. 
• The cake may be made from scratch or a boxed mix.
• No cheesecakes or crème cakes are allowed. 
• Only shelf stable frostings are allowed. (i.e.: non-hazardous buttercream, cream cheese, commercial frostings or fondant) 
• Participants must follow Wisconsin Cottage Food Laws.

Entry Requirements:

• Online pre-registration is required to participate in the Cake Auction.
• Cakes must be brought to the Exhibition Hall between 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday of the Fair. 
• A 3x5 inch index card must be attached to the outside of the cake box with the following participant information:
  • Name and age 
  • Mailing address (for use by the Fair Board only)
  • Club or group name (if applicable)
  • A short profile – school, hobbies, school/community activities, etc.
  • The type of cake and decoration theme
  • A short explanation of why the type of cake and decoration theme was selected

Auction Requirements:

• Participants must be present for the auction as they will present their cake while it is being sold.
• Participants must bring at least two people to bid on their cake.
• Participants will receive the amount bid for their entry, less an 8% commission paid to the Fair Board to help cover program expenses.
• Fair rules prevent participants from selling more than one item at a Fair auction.  Therefore, exhibitors qualifying to sell a project in the Sale of Champions would have to choose between selling their cake or their project.
